Hi there my name is Julia Dean and I have been cutting and styling my hair and family and friends hair's for a long time now. If I was to calculate the money I've saved up by not having to go to the hairstylist I'd in all likelihood be looking at 1000s by now.
At present, i cut family and friends as a part time business, and neighbours also. Everyone was asking me who cut my hair - and I let them know that I always do it myself... and things sort of lifted off from there.
It hasn't always been like this. A few years back. I was having trouble as a stay at home mother and my hubby's salary hardly cut through the bills.... in fact i don't want to drag you through the a long story here, to cut it short we couldn't even afford to go to the salon to be honest we couldn't afford much at all.
Our Hair began getting longer... on all of us. We had to get it cut somewhere, and with the ways of the economy downturn and with our bills spiralling out of control the spending money on haircuts was the last thing on our minds.
Then I got talking to an old friend about the troubles we were going thru, and she suggested I should go meet her friend . She was a hairdresser and her name was mary and that she had amazing abilities as a hairdresser. The reason why she suggested i should meet her was that she had a lot of major issues against professional hairdressers and she didn't charge to cut hair.
Cracking I thought to myself and i got Mary's number off my friend and called her and she booked me in for the following week.
When I went to see Mary and she opened the door, the first thing I observed about her was her amazing hair style.
We talked for a couple of minutes... and when I inquired if she also cut my children's hair - she categorically declined!
I begged her and told the only reason was that I was broke, had no idea how to cut hair, apart from a bowl cut. As my unhappiness rapidly grew to angriness.
I simply Laughed
I've never even held a pair of scissors in my life i told her,
The next few weeks were genuinely a journey.
And now, I would like to share with you what i've learned.
